Developmental Edit: involves editing and analyzing the manuscript's structure and theme, voice, logic, consistency, narrative, flow, length, order, clarity of meaning, etc. For fiction, analysis might involve plot, theme, story line or flow, character assessment/development, overall tone and style, pacing, setting, and background.

Copyedit: involves editing the manuscript for spelling, punctuation, grammar, structure, style, and consistency; comments and queries about sense and consistency. 

Proofreading/Cold Read: is the final edit, or proofread, which involves marking up the manuscript for errors in spelling, punctuation, and grammar.

Note: All editorial work can be performed digitally in Track Changes in Word. Or I can edit on paper and scan the edits.
